Charles A. Black Award Event
Thank you for your interest in participating as a sponsor for the 2006 Charles A. Black Award Event.
The Charles A. Black Award is presented annually by CAST to a food or agricultural scientist actively engaged in research, who has made significant contributions to science, and who communicates the importance of food and agricultural science to the public, policymakers, and news media. This prestigious award is named for the late Charles A. Black, professor emeritus of agronomy at Iowa State University and a past president, executive vice president, and member of the founding committee of CAST.
CAST is a nonprofit organization composed of scientific societies and many individual, student, company, nonprofit, and associate society members. CAST's Board of Directors is composed of an executive committee and representatives of the scientific societies and individual members.
The event will be held in Washington D.C. as part of the CAST Board of Directors spring meeting. As a sponsoring partner, you are invited to join us for the open forum, cocktail reception, dinner, and award presentation.

The following criteria must be met for the sponsored event.
- A minimum value has been established for each level of sponsorship.
- Sponsoring organizations who wish to attend the Charles A. Black Award Event must indicate on the response form the names of one or two attendees.
- All sponsors will be recognized on the CAST website. Your company name and logo will be posted on the site and used in program materials upon receipt of your commitment of sponsorship. Please email your logo and company information to dfreeman@cast-science.org.
- Sponsors are asked to return the attached financial commitment by March 1, 2006.
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE SUPPORT
The Charles A. Black Award honors the late Dr. Black, founder and longtime Executive Vice President of CAST, and the Charles A. Black Award Fund covers the expenses of this annual program. CAST presents the award to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in his or her area of expertise within the agricultural, environmental, or food sciences. Primary consideration is given to candidates who are actively engaged in research and who have demonstrated excellence in communicating the importance of their scientific achievements to policymakers, the news media, and the public. Since its inception in 1986, the program has honored eighteen outstanding scientists.
