Join us for the webinar release of CAST’s new issue paper entitled “Preventing the Next Plant Invasion: Opportunities and Challenges” on February 29 from 1-2 p.m. CST.

Presented by Deah Lieurance, Assistant Professor of Invasive Species Biology and Management at Penn State University, and Theresa Culley, Professor of Plant Ecology at the University of Cincinnati, this webinar will discuss risk assessment methodologies, their applications, associated benefits, costs, and the future trajectory of invasive plant species management.

The webinar release is part of the National Invasive Species Awareness Week and is a collaboration between CAST and the North American Invasive Species Management Association (NAISMA).

About the Paper

” Preventing the Next Plant Invasion: Opportunities and Challenges” discusses the threat of invasive species to biodiversity, agriculture, and ecosystem services. It reviews current approaches to invasive plant prevention, identifies challenges to their widespread usage, and explores opportunities for coordinated adoption of new frameworks and tools.

The intended audiences include regulatory, research, policy agencies, industries that import or develop new species, seed and biotech companies, researchers, educators, and extension agents.
